Music has a way of moving people, even down in the heart level. Biblically-written music can positively impact our lives and can help us keep the right perspective through difficult times in our Christian journey.
I have written a few blog posts about my favorite encouraging Christian songs. One includes songs that deal with the dread of night, and another about praise songs with a neat purpose.
In general, some of my favorite songs can be used as a prayer to help respond appropriately when life’s struggles happen.
I thought I would share my top four songs that we can pray during life's bumps.
1. “God Be The Glory” by We Are Messengers
I loved this newer song right away.
Main Lyric: “When my heart can’t find the beat, when it’s dark and I can’t see, I will put my hope in You.”
Why I like this lyric?? The song goes on to explain that God’s promises endure. Plus, let it be our story that God gets the glory in our lives.
Bible Verse to Match:
Therefore, whether you eat or drink, or whatever you do, do all to the glory of God.
1 Corinthians 10:31
2. “Come What May” by We Are Messengers
Here is another great song by We Are Messengers.
Main Lyric: “In every high and every low, on mountain tops, down broken roads, You’re still my rock, my hope remains, I rest in the arms of Jesus, come what may!”
Why I like this lyric?? The song states that we can find our deep joy in Jesus, and we can find goodness in God.
Bible Verse to Match: The song includes portions of the famous Psalm 23.
The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want. He makes me lie down in green pastures. He leads me beside the still waters. He restores my soul. Psalm 23:1-3
3. “Good God Almighty” by Crowder
I have posted this song on my social media and another blog post a time or two. It is a real gem of a song.
Main Lyric: “Good God Almighty, I hope you find me praising Your name no matter what comes.”
Why I like this lyric?? As the song puts it, God will not let us down. Plus, He is good, and His mercy does not stop.
Bible Verse to Match:
This I recall to my mind, therefore I have hope. Through the LORD’s mercies we are not consumed, because His compassions fail not. They are new every morning, great is Your faithfulness. Lamentations 3:21-23
4. “10,000 Reasons” by Matt Redman
The song is all about worship and singing the Lord’s praises, no matter what comes to pass.
Main Lyric: “Whatever may pass and whatever lies before me, let me be singing when the evening comes.”
Why I like this lyric?? The song is accurate, as God is rich in goodness. There are 10,000 reasons to praise Him.
Bible Verse to Match:
Therefore by Him let us continually offer the sacrifice of praise to God, that is, the fruit of our lips, giving thanks to His name. Hebrews 12:15
Perhaps one or more of these songs can bless someone in some way.
~Let's praise on,
