#3

By:Debbie Christopher~

It’s been awhile since I’ve posted. It hasn’t necessarily been a busy summer…but I’ll blame it on ‘writer’s block’. I’ve started two drafts. One was coming along well until I became concerned about ‘going too deep’ so I took a step back. The second one popped into my mind not too long ago, and I had the introduction and outline scribbled when the third idea popped a few days ago.

So, from writers block to three drafted thoughts…

I decided to begin with the third one…thus, the strange title.

Each of us face specific, individual bumps along the way, and the goal of Bumps are Okay is to encourage you as you make your way through them.

But, as I was praying the other night, I realized my concern—the bump—was an issue we are probably all facing and fretting over…a bump that affects each of us.

There are so many concerns that face our nation…and if you’re reading globally, the world as a whole. We are left with the thought: How do I even pray?!

Obviously, it is not my role to tell you specifically what to pray, but I can encourage to look to Scripture to help you breathe through the process.

On this particular night, as I was sharing my concerned heart with my Lord, I started out, “Lord, there is so much going on, options are so scary, and I don’t even…” before I could finish my thought, a verse came to mind…

““Let not your hearts be troubled. Believe in God; believe also in me.”

‭‭John‬14:1

The Holy Spirit brought to mind a verse I had memorized long ago to help me breathe as I simply prayed for peace amidst the chaos. It served as a simple reminder to rest and trust in the Creator God, Who controls all the activities of this world.

Basic take-away? Be in God’s Word regularly and memorize passages that comfort, guide, encourage, and remind you of God’s sovereignty and faithfulness. Dwell on those passages and allow them to bring peace as you pray.

Now, to complete thoughts 1 and 2!

Let not your heart be troubled…rest in the Lord…
