Earlier this summer, I posted about the meme ‘You are the creamer to my coffee’ (here) seen on a family outing. On that same trip, our AirBnB had the following hanging over the fireplace:
This is a good day for a good day.
Our youngest grand didn’t quite grasp the meaning of this ‘strange sounding’ saying…even after our attempts at quick explanations.
The events leading up to this day provided the irony of having this as our theme for the next two days. Due to sickness, our trip was delayed by one day, and we were trying to schedule as much as we could into this first day to make up for lost time…and…it was raining! The youngest was skeptical and quite perturbed! He was convinced that swimming in the big water park was ‘out’, and that we couldn’t do anything fun! Mom pointed to the sign over the fireplace and read it to him. He wasn’t ‘impressed!’
However…we fit in a bike ride and a coffee/hot chocolate break to the nearby coffee shop before lunch. By afternoon, the rain stopped…but, no sun! We spent two hours at the heated outdoor pool (the indoor pool was closed for maintenance🤪)…even though it remained cloudy and cool (cold for Grandma—57 degrees!!). But, the water WAS nice, and we survived the getting out of the water part. We, indeed, had a wonderful time. The youngest even slid down the big waterslide by himself! Later in the afternoon, we were able to walk around the shopping village and purchase some goodies. Even when the rain returned, we laughed while dodging the raindrops as we scurried from awning to awning.
When we returned to the rental house, the youngest exclaimed, “This was a fun day!” Mom, once again, pointed to the fireplace sign…and smiled! I think he ‘got it’.
It’s all about choices and responses! Psalm 118:24 states, “This is the day the Lord has made; let us rejoice and be glad in it.”

Truly, this IS a good day for a good day!
Let’s choose to make it a good day!

Yep, we must make the choice to be content! 🤩
