New year….new planner/journal?
By: Debbie Christopher ~~I have been asked many times about my favorite verse. My answer has always been, “Well, it depends on what’s going on in my life at the moment.” I couldn’t pick just one as my life verse.
But, after several Bible studies and life circumstances, incidents, and situations, I’ve discovered that one particular passage kept popping up.
At the end of 2023, I came across the neatest planner/journal that had a spot to write a special verse for each month. After recalling God’s faithfulness and care through a series of tough life circumstances, I chose Proverbs 3:5-6 as my verse to begin 2024.
“Trust in the Lord with all your heart, And lean not on your own understanding; In all your ways acknowledge Him, And He shall direct your paths.”
Proverbs 3:5-6 NKJV
Then, throughout a couple of our Ladies’ Bible studies —especially our Fall study—I noticed that I had written Proverbs 3:5-6 pretty much at the end of each week as the answer to the, “How have the lessons of this week’s study encouraged or motivated you?” question.
I realized that although many verses encourage and motivate me in various situations, all those verses are based on Proverbs 3:5-6. So, I decided on my Life Verse… I choose to base my life decisions, responses, and uncertainties on trusting the Lord with all my heart—rather than depending on how I view the situation—by acknowledging that my loving, gracious, all-knowing Heavenly Father has it all taken care of…’
That 2024 planner/journal also had a spot for ‘verse of the year’ based on the 12 verses I had chosen? Guess what I’m writing on that page?
And, yes, it’s going in the intro page of my 2025 planner/journal!
This may be a good verse for you to start off the new year…and go ahead and memorize it while you’re at it!
