By Debbie Christopher ~~Okay, I guess my opinion regarding the seasons really doesn't mean a lot in the scheme of your life! Many of you may agree with my thoughts, while others may hold an opposing opinion. So, here goes...Enjoy!
Summer---Ah! My absolute, ultimate favorite!
👍 Bring on the heat!
👍 long, late days with laid back evening activities! (9:30PM ball games...YES!)
👍 leaving the house without a jacket!
👍 flip flops!
👍 beach or mountains..although I'm a beach girl! 👍 daisies
👍 Ok...I'll stop...
👎 humidity... but, I'll take it for the pluses
2. Fall...
👍 low humidity and crisp air
👍 Fall decor
👍 scarecrows
👍 pumpkins (and pumpkin spice!)
👍 sunflowers
👍 football and burnt orange sweatshirts (🤘)
👍 fall boots
👍👎 Yeah some cold days, but it's to be expected....after all, winter is coming...
👎 Winter's coming!
3. Winter...
👍 Uh, let me think for a bit...okay, Christmas decor and family celebrations
👎 COLD!
👎 snow!
👎 coats
👎 snow boots
👎 short days
👎 stuck inside
👎 ...you get my point!
4. Spring...(split decision)
👍 Winter is over!!! (Sort of!)
👍 daffodils and forsythia
👍 can 'move' to jackets (sometimes)
👍👎 too unpredictable
👎 still cold days...I mean I remember one year when I had to wear Winter coat and gloves every Sunday in April!!!
👎 Summer is supposed to be on the way!
Well, that was fun! You get my point and have probably figured out my favorites and 'felt' my gripes! You have probably rearranged some of my thumbs...but can we learn a lesson from Scripture?
Debbie, regardles of the season, keep Psalm 118:24 in mind---even in the dead of winter---
Throughout this particular Psalm (Psalm 118), the Psalmist recalled God's goodness and faithfulness throughout Israel's history. He reminded the people of Yahweh's faithfulness when they encountered times much more trying than a cold, snowy April! He emphasized this thought in verse 24 as he challenged them to take this opportunity to recall and rejoice in God's faithful Lovingkindness....and encouraged them to remember this day---regardless of their circumstances!
This reminder is applicable to us as New Testament believers as well---regardless of the season---as seen in the verses below:
“Rejoice always! Pray constantly. Give thanks in everything, for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus.”
1 Thessalonians 5:16-18 HCSB
Maybe I should repost in January...or a snowy, cold day in April?!
Rejoice---regardless,
~Debbie
Postscript :
In light of the events that have taken place in Israel since I 'posted' my official draft to our site app, I wanted to add a prayerful and heartfelt reminder from the same Psalm---God's faithful Lovingkindness to His people endures forever...regardless of the situation.
“Let Israel say, “His faithful love endures forever.””
Psalms 118:2 HCSB
“Let those who fear the Lord say, “His faithful love endures forever.””
Psalms 118:4 HCSB
