So, How did WE Do?

~~By Debbie Christopher...At the beginning of 2022, I introduced my Word of the Year in a blog entitled, 'Purpose' (Link). In this particular post, we contemplated the different nuances between the phrases purpose of life, with purpose, and on purpose and considered the importance of fulfilling our purpose with purpose and on purpose.

So, I thought I would conclude 2022 with this related question: So, how did we do?

Maybe we over-analyzed the whole thing and struggled with deciding 'just what is MY purpose--as an individual?'

I encourage each of us to view this 'purpose' corporately. What is OUR purpose as committed followers of Christ? No need to over-analyze because, actually, scripture makes it quite simple.

Consider the following passages...

In Philippians 1:27, Paul is encouraging the church in Philippi to remain united and faithful and started with these introductory words..."Just one thing: Live your life in a manner worthy of the gospel of Christ. "

Live your life in a manner worthy of the gospel of Christ.

Just one thing: Live your life in a manner worthy of the gospel of Christ. Then, whether I come and see you or am absent, I will hear about you that you are standing firm in one spirit, with one mind, working side by side for the faith that comes from the gospel,”

‭‭Philippians‬ ‭1‬:‭27‬ ‭HCSB‬‬

In 2 Corinthians 5:6-9, (link)Paul is contemplating the benefits and blessings of being alive or being with the Lord in Heaven. In verse 9, he proclaims, regardless of your state in life....

Make it your aim to be pleasing to Him.

Therefore, whether we are at home or away, we make it our aim to be pleasing to Him.”

‭‭2 Corinthians‬ ‭5‬:‭9‬ ‭HCSB‬‬

Then in one final summary, Paul reiterates this purpose...

...be steadfast, immovable, always excelling in the Lord’s work...

Therefore, my dear brothers, be steadfast, immovable, always excelling in the Lord’s work, knowing that your labor in the Lord is not in vain.

‭‭1 Corinthians‬ ‭15‬:‭58‬ ‭HCSB‬‬

May these passages and the simple words of an 'old' hymn many of us hold dear encourage us to fulfill our purpose with purpose and on purpose...Trust and Obey for there's no other way...

~fulfilling our purpose together...
