Time Zone Blessings!

The concept of time zones is intriguing. The fact that some people are sleeping soundly at night, while others (at the same moment in time) are eating a late morning snack, is a little bit funny to me. Sure, it can get a little complicated when trying to figure out the best time to call someone who lives in a completely different zone, but time zones are still interesting!

Here is the part that gets my brain to smile (is that even a thing!?)...though we, as humans, must scramble to get everything accomplished in a day, we are scrambling at a totally different frame of time. Yet, at some point, we all need rest!

Time Zones and Prayer

What if we suddenly land right smack in the middle of a difficult bump in life? What if this bump surprises us, and we need someone to pray for us, in that precise set of moments? What if…drum roll, please…this bump happens when those in our time zone are SLEEPING soundly?!

Technology and time zones can be our friendly tools! I have seen this play out personally and in others’ lives.

One way technology can be our tool is that we can text our prayer request to someone in an earlier time zone! I did this very thing several years ago. Someone in my family was on his way to a dangerous work situation, and my mind was not settled. I texted my friend, Brittney, in Hawaii. Even though it was my nighttime, it was just her evening! She did pray for me. As a bonus, she also sent a Bible verse to encourage me, too! Time Zone Score #1!

For those of us on social media, we can post our prayer request on our favored social media account. A specific prayer request can go on our main page, or it can be placed in a specific group that is more private.

I am in a specific lady’s Facebook group through my mom's church. A group member posted a pressing health-related prayer request. When the request was posted, it was safe to say that many members in that group were already asleep for the night. Not me, though! I was in a totally different (and earlier) time zone! I added a comment that I was awake and praying about the need! Time Zone Score #2!

What an incredible day and age in which we live! What we can pull off electronically would shock those who came before us!

HOWEVER, those in previous generations had the same amazing resource…even before technology provided such time zone blessings!

God is ALWAYS available…no matter the time zone!

I have posted on Isaiah 40 before. You can read it here. God does not need to take a break from us, and He will not miss our prayer because of being asleep. What a blessing indeed!

Have you not known? Have you not heard? The everlasting God, the Lord, The Creator of the ends of the earth, Neither faints nor is weary. His understanding is unsearchable (Isaiah 40:28, NKJV).

Whether or not we use our technology to quickly shout out our prayer requests to others, God is awake and is ever available to hear our personal prayers! No matter what time zone!!! Time Zone Score #3!
